Frequently Asked Questions
How can I be included in a Wildstream Retreat Xperience?
We give first priority to people who have completed or are attending a local DivorceCare class or similar divorce recovery program. We do require that individuals be recommended to Wildstream by their class facilitator, their pastor, or a Christian counselor. Your application must be confirmed and registration fee paid before placement can be secured.
How much does the Xperience cost and how is an Xperience funded?
The cost for the 2025 fall season will be updated in July. The only cost to the individual attending is a non-refundable registration fee. Participants are also responsible for their transportation costs to and from the Xperience venue in Middle TN. The total cost of a Wildstream Xperience includes 2 nights accommodation, 6 meals, snacks, materials, and gifts. All expenses (other than the registration fee) are covered by a church, a sponsor, or a previous participant/alumni that has chosen to “pay it forward.” You do not need to make arrangements with your church or sponsor to fund your experience at Wildstream.
What are the rooming arrangements?
There are 2 people per room. Roommates, are assigned by Wildstream based on details collected during the application review process. Each room has two very comfortable twin beds and a well-appointed private bathroom.
Are meals included and what if I have allergies?
Friday evening supper, 3 meals on Saturday, and breakfast and lunch on Sunday are provided on site along with coffee, tea, water, and lemonade. We will do our best to provide vegetarian, vegan, lactose-free, and gluten-free options or other special dietary needs upon request. Soft drinks are available for purchase. You may elect to bring your own snacks and other non-alcoholic beverages. Mini-refrigerators are available for small personal items.
How do I find the Xperience venue?
Wildstream Xperiences are held at various sites in the Tennessee region. Directions to your Retreat venue will be provided with your Xperience Approval letter. 2025 Xperiences are being held approximately 1 hour east of the Nashville International Airport. We are on Central Standard Time.
How long is the Xperience?
Xperience programing is approximately 44 hours from late Friday afternoon until just after lunch on Sunday afternoon. When making travel arrangements, please plan to arrive between 4:00-5:00 PM and depart around 2:00 PM (all times CST). Specific check-in and departure instructions for your Retreat will be provided within your Confirmation email.
What’s the Xperience format?
We have sessions in the mornings and Saturday evening. We take an afternoon break on Saturday and offer a light hike to a waterfall (weather permitting) or stay at the venue and relax in a hammock, take a nap, or take in the beautiful scenery around the property.
How often are Xperiences offered?
Most often, 4 to 6 weekend Xperiences are offered each year from March through mid-June and September through mid-November.
What do I need to bring?
Wildstream provides a peaceful, comfortable weekend experience where you just need to come with personal toiletries, your favorite comfort items, very casual clothing and walking shoes, and an open, teachable spirit.
Would Wildstream be effective for non-Christians or other faiths?
Wildstream is a Christian faith-based non-profit organization. We believe the Bible is the source of truth, God’s principles, and life skills. We share these openly with individuals looking for hope and recovery from the Wilderness of Divorce. We believe biblical insight is key to effectively heal, grow, and experience freedom from judgment, condemnation, and hopelessness. While the principles we teach are scripturally based, they can and do stand alone as secular principles. If received, they will have an impact regardless of the individual’s personal beliefs. The visible spiritual aspects of Wildstream include the following: short devotionals, prayers by leaders, others sharing personal faith-based experiences, scripture references as a source of truth, some soft background worship music. We have many types of people that attend. Many attendees are active in their faith from diverse denominational backgrounds as well as some non-Christians. Many are struggling with basic questions related to their personal faith, the church, and real doubts about God. We are dedicated to promoting safety, honor, respect, and curiosity rather than high-pressure, judgmental approaches that would promote any particular agenda. We seek to meet hurting people where they are and help them get to where they want to go.
